Terms of Use — DekhLaw

1. Introduction & Platform Nature

These Terms of Use govern all access to and use of the DekhLaw website, mobile application, and services. DekhLaw is a technology platform that facilitates discovery of lawyers and communication between users and independent enrolled advocates. DekhLaw is not a law firm. DekhLaw does not practise law, provide legal advice, or represent any party in any legal matter.

2. Eligibility

You may use this platform only if you are 18 years of age or older; have the legal capacity to enter binding agreements under the Indian Contract Act 1872; and are not barred from using the platform under any applicable law.

3. Services Offered

DekhLaw may offer: a Lawyer Discovery Directory; a Legal Consultation Request System; SOS Legal Assistance for urgent connections; Legal Information Resources (informational only, not legal advice); and Document Consultation Services. DekhLaw reserves the right to modify or discontinue any feature at any time.

4. Lawyer-Client Relationship

Using DekhLaw does not automatically create a lawyer-client relationship. Such a relationship is formed only when a lawyer formally accepts representation in writing and a separate engagement agreement exists between you and the lawyer. DekhLaw is not a party to any lawyer-client relationship.

5. Lawyer Independence

Lawyers listed on DekhLaw are independent professionals enrolled with the Bar Council of India or a State Bar Council. DekhLaw does not employ them, supervise their advice, guarantee quality or outcomes, or make representations regarding their professional standing.

6. Payment Structure

DekhLaw operates a two-part payment model: (1) Lawyer Consultation Fee — paid directly by the user to the lawyer's designated account. DekhLaw does not collect this fee. (2) Platform Facilitation Fee — charged separately by DekhLaw for technology infrastructure and connection services. GST and applicable taxes are added to the facilitation fee. Both are separately itemised on your invoice.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to misuse the platform; provide false or misleading information; impersonate any person or entity; transmit unlawful or harmful content; interfere with platform security; harvest data using automated means; or use the platform for any activity that violates applicable law or BCI rules.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DekhLaw and its founders, directors, officers, and employees from any claim, liability, loss, or expense arising out of your use of the platform in violation of these Terms; false information you provide; disputes with lawyers or other users; or your infringement of any intellectual property or privacy right.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, DekhLaw's total liability shall not exceed the greater of ₹500 or the total platform facilitation fees paid by that user in the 3 months preceding the claim. DekhLaw is not liable for legal advice provided by lawyers, disputes between users and lawyers, or outcomes of legal matters.

10. Dispute Resolution

Disputes shall first be subject to a 30-day cooling-off period (email: legal@dekhlaw.com). If unresolved, disputes shall be settled by binding arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996, conducted in Delhi, India. These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
